The difference between PVC-U, PVC-O and PVC-M pipes
PVC-U, PVC-O, and PVC-M are three different types of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes that differ in their manufacturing processes, performance characteristics, and application areas.
1.PVC-U pipe
PVC-U(Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride) is an unplasticized polyvinyl chloride pipe, which is the most widely used PVC pipe on the market. Pvc-u pipe is in PVC resin to add an appropriate amount of stabilizer, lubricant, filler and other auxiliary materials, by mixing, plasticizing, extrusion, styling, cooling, cutting and other processes made of PVC-U pipe has the following characteristics:
1) Good physical and mechanical properties: PVC-U pipes have high tensile strength, compressive strength and hardness, and can withstand greater internal and external pressure.
2) Corrosion resistance: PVC-U pipe has excellent acid resistance, alkali resistance, salt resistance, oil resistance, corrosion resistance, suitable for a variety of chemical corrosion environment.
3) Good electrical insulation performance: PVC-U pipe has high electrical insulation performance, can be used for cable protection pipe, electrical accessories, etc.
4) Good wear resistance: PVC-U pipe has good wear resistance, suitable for conveying abrasive, granular materials.
5) Good welding performance: PVC-U pipe can be connected by hot melt welding, electric fusion welding and other methods, with high welding strength and good sealing performance.
6) Good flame retardant performance: PVC-U pipe has self-extinguishing, not easy to burn, can be used in places with high fire protection requirements.
PVC-U pipes are widely used in water supply and drainage, sewage, rain drainage, ventilation, cable protection, industrial pipelines and other fields.
2.PVC-O pipe
PVC-O(Oriented Polyvinyl Chloride) is a oriented modified polyvinyl chloride pipe, also known as bidirectional drawing PVC pipe. PVC-O pipe is based on PVC-U pipe, through a special directional drawing process, so that the pipe in the production process of bidirectional drawing, so as to improve its performance. PVC-O pipes have the following characteristics:
1). High strength: the tensile strength, compressive strength and impact strength of PVC-O pipe are higher than that of PVC-U pipe, and can withstand higher internal and external pressure.
2). High toughness: The toughness of PVC-O pipe is much higher than that of PVC-U pipe, good fatigue resistance and strong stress cracking resistance.
3) Good corrosion resistance: PVC-O pipe has the same corrosion resistance as PVC-U pipe.
4) Good wear resistance: The wear resistance of PVC-O pipe is better than that of PVC-U pipe, which is suitable for conveying abrasive and granular materials.
5) Good welding performance: PVC-O pipes can be connected by the same welding method as PVC-U pipes.
6) Light and efficient: PVC-O pipe is light in weight, convenient in installation and construction, and low in transportation cost.
PVC-O pipes are mainly used in municipal water supply, drainage, industrial water, agricultural irrigation and other fields.
3.PVC-M pipe
PVC-M (Modified Polyvinyl Chloride) is a modified polyvinyl chloride pipe, which is based on PVC-U pipe, by adding special elastomers and other additives to improve its toughness and impact resistance. PVC-M pipes have the following characteristics:
1). High toughness: The toughness of PVC-M pipe is much higher than that of PVC-U pipe, with good fatigue resistance and strong stress cracking resistance.
2). High impact resistance: The impact resistance of PVC-M pipe is better than that of PVC-U pipe, which is suitable for winter construction and low temperature environment.
3) Good corrosion resistance: PVC-M pipe has the same corrosion resistance as PVC-U pipe.
4) Good wear resistance: The wear resistance of PVC-M pipe is better than that of PVC-U pipe, which is suitable for conveying abrasive and granular materials.
5) Good welding performance: PVC-M pipes can be connected by the same welding method as PVC-U pipes.
PVC-M pipes are mainly used in municipal water supply, drainage, industrial water, agricultural irrigation and other fields.
PVC-U, PVC-O and PVC-M pipes are different in their manufacturing process, performance characteristics and application fields. Pvc-u pipe is the most common PVC pipe, with good physical and mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, electrical insulation properties, etc. Pvc-o pipe is a directional modified PVC pipe, which has the characteristics of high strength, high toughness, light weight and high efficiency. Pvc-m pipe is a modified PVC pipe, which has the characteristics of high toughness and high impact resistance. When choosing PVC pipe, the appropriate pipe type should be selected according to the specific use environment and performance requirements.
