Although oxidized polyethylene wax and polyethylene wax sound similar, they have fundamental differences in chemical structure and properties. Simply put, oxidized polyethylene wax is a modified product obtained by oxidizing polyethylene wax.
Polyethylene Wax(Pe Wax)
Structure: Polyethylene wax is a low-molecular-weight polyethylene without polar functional groups (such as carbonyl, hydroxyl) in its molecular structure.
Properties: Due to the lack of polarity, polyethylene wax has excellent compatibility with non-polar substances (such as non-polar resins, hydrocarbon solvents). It features high hardness, high melting point, and low viscosity, providing excellent lubrication, demolding, and wear resistance.
Applications: It is commonly used in plastic processing, hot melt adhesives, inks, coatings, etc., mainly serving to lubricate, disperse, and increase hardness.
Oxidized Polyethylene Wax (OPE WAX)
Structure: Oxidized polyethylene wax introduces polar functional groups such as carbonyl (-C=O) and hydroxyl (-OH) to the molecular chain of polyethylene wax through an oxidation process.
Properties: Due to the introduction of these polar groups, the properties of oxidized polyethylene wax have changed significantly. It has good polarity, thus greatly improving its compatibility with polar resins, fillers, pigments, etc. It not only retains the lubrication and dispersion properties of polyethylene wax but also has coupling properties (the ability to connect two substances with different properties).
Applications: Oxidized polyethylene wax is more suitable for polar systems, such as water-based coatings, water-based inks, Pvc Stabilizers, textile softeners, etc. It helps pigments and fillers disperse better, improving the adhesion and gloss of products.
Imported OPE wax is mainly found in Europe and America, such as BASF OA6, Honeywell AC 316, Vivax XG17, and Klein ped191, etc.
Imported PE wax mainly includes BASF A wax, Honeywell AC 6A, Vivax SPC6, etc.
